Hello Ashford, where have you been all my life?

I gave a little preview of a project that I was working on a few posts ago...and yes, I've been weaving! I got a fantastic opportunity to use an Ashford Knitters Loom for a couple of weeks! A friend of mine recently inherited the barely used loom, as well as an über old one that we're not sure works or has all of the parts or not. While my friend attends to family matters, she asked if I wanted to give the loom a try (and so I can show her how to set it up and work it when I have to return it to her!). How could I pass up the opportunity??

Setting up the loom took about an hour. It would've taken longer if I was doing the set-up solo. It took a while for me to get the hang of weaving and to get into a rhythm with the shuttle, so my edges look a bit wonky in some areas. I personally think you can tell when I was on a roll and going with the flow in some parts, where my edges were perfectly even and consistent. I find that once you get a rhythm going, the weaving works up pretty darn fast! I spent 2 nights this week staying up way past my bedtime,
since I can only weave at night when the little one is fast asleep. But it's amazing just how fast time flies by when you're weaving! The motions are so relaxing, calming, and oh so hypnotic, that there were times I thought a few minutes had gone by when in reality an hour had past!

Brett is going to Vancouver for the weekend to see a Louis C.K. show (so jealous!), so I'm hoping to be able to find some time to do some more weaving. There's a sale going on at one of my LYS, I'm thinking of making a stop to see if I can pick up anything good to weave with...crap. I think I have a new hobby. So if I don't post all weekend, it's because I'm weaving...
