Yesterday morning I woke up to a lot of snow. It had started to snow sometime during the night and then it snowed all morning. Really hard. By mid afternoon it finally let up. Well, at least in my end of town. Brett's entire work day was canceled, so the little family and I had a wonderful snow day! Not only was the day filled with Daddy-time, but full of snow, hot chocolate, tea, and I quickly whipped up a batch of banana bread after an hour of playing in the snow.
For a city that normally doesn't get much snow (and we were suppose to have scattered showers with sunny breaks yesterday!), we got a ton! I actually had to dig through my closet to find my long johns and all the North Face threads that I used to wear back in my days of living in Finland. I'm so glad that I kept all that stuff, it was definitely needed!

I just had to add the photo above too, just cause the Munchkin was beyond ecstatic about the snow. From the moment he woke up and saw the winter wonderland outside his window until the moment that we actually took him outside, he was hopping from one foot to the other unable to hold in his excitement! He literally grabbed some clothes from the laundry basket in an attempt to dress himself, grabbed an armload of toys, and then dragged both Brett and I to the hallway closet and pointed to his snowsuit before making a beeline to the front door. Ahhh...to be a kid again! Unfortunately the snow day will not continue on to today as Brett has to return to work (boo erns!) and the snow has turned hard and icy (gross!), but I think I'll keep wearing the long johns and making the hot chocolates!
that is so cool! I wish it snowed where I live. Oh and I wanted to say thanks for all the advice about knitting. I am trying to learn as much as I can because I got this idea to open a yarn store on the Gold Coast (which is where I live in Australia). The only place to buy yarn here is from Spotlight which is a big chain store and they only sell like 5 or 6 different brands and not the really nice ones. If you want international brands or more specialised stuff like alpaca yarn you have to go to Brisbane which is an hour drive away. So while I work out my plan of attack for opening a store I am trying to learn as much as possible so I can help people that come into the store. You are the first person I have mentioned this to apart from my family. Now it feels more set in stone like I must do it.

ReplyDeleteI've heard from fellow Aussies on Ravelry about the lack of quality yarn shops and/or ones that carry the more popular brands, like Malabrigo. I find that it definitely makes knitting AND the final product more enjoyable when you're working with a more quality yarn.
