Simple Comforts

Barista Espresso Machine
Wow! Where has the time gone?? I can't believe that it's already been a week since I last posted. I swear it feels like it was only a few days ago since I posted that behemoth of a post! Please forgive me on my lack of blogging! The weather here has been sooo freezing cold and drearily gross rainy that I've been feeling way too lazy to do anything but watch movies and drink a lot of hot chocolate. The only thing of note is that 2 days ago I managed to bake up a batch of cinnamon roll muffins (more about those bad boys tomorrow)! Oh! And Brett and I went on our second date since the Munchkin was born last night! At the rate we're going, we're averaging a date a year!

Anyway, I've also been doing a little bit of knitting here and there and while watching movies. We've been addicted and have been watching Despicable Me non-stop in this household. To the point where Brett and I have been quoting from it way too much. In between viewings of Despicable, I also got around to watching Dinner for Schmucks (hilarious!), Black Swan (sooooo good and yet so messed up, Natalie Portman is definitely going to be winning some awards for this...and most likely Mila Kunis), and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the original Swedish version with English subtitles - love!!). The latter I just had to watch since I just finished the first 2 books of the trilogy (and very impatiently waiting for the third and final book to arrive at the library). Now I know why I don't like to read books that often...I tend to get so into them that I end up reading 'til 4am in the morning!

As for the knitting, I'm so close to finishing the Queen Bee cardigan, I can taste it. All that's left to do is graft the underarm seams together, weave in all the ends, and give it a soak and some aggressive blocking (it is lace, after all). I've been sort of avoiding having to do the finishings on the cardigan, why, I'm not sure. I actually like doing the kitchener stitch, and blocking gives me some weird high (maybe cause I know that the project is done, done, done?), I'm wondering if it's the weaving in of the ends that's making me stay away? I've been avoiding this task so much so that I've already started up a new sweater project (again, more on that at a later date) and it's going pretty fast so far.

While reading, watching movies, and knitting I've been sipping on an endless amount of hot chocolate, London Fogs, and Caramel Apple Spices. I've had my espresso machine sitting on our kitchen counter top since the day we moved into our townhouse and never once had used it. Actually, I don't think I've used it in well over 5 years! Brett is too intimated by the machine to even attempt to use it. One day a few weeks ago I had an insane craving for a caramel apple spice but was too lazy to go to the nearest Starbucks to get one. I don't know why I haven't used it sooner cause seriously, the bevvies (especially the hot chocolate!) that I've been making lately are beyond yummy! I better cut down on them cause I can see myself easily gaining 10 pounds! Oy they!

  1. Loved that Despicable me movie!
IT'S SO PINK I COULD DIE! (or something to that effect)

What espresso maker would you recommend? Preferably one that won't bankrupt me? I think I need some yummy bevvies at home.

  2. Agnes is my favourite! She's so cute and funny!

As for the espresso maker, I don't know what's what any more. I just have a Starbucks Barista machine that I bought about 7-8 years ago. Back when Starbucks used to sell machines. I'm no help. I know. :(
