WIP: Queen Bee Cardigan

The second that I finished the Simple & SweetGeorgia Pullover I had immediately cast on the Honeybee Cardigan by Laura Chau, who also designed the Dipped Infinity Scarf that I had knitted earlier this year. I've had my eye on this cardigan for what feels like forever and have been seriously itching to start knitting it the moment I saw the pattern, but had promised myself that I wouldn't start it until I had finished the pullover...even though I had vowed that I would never again knit another garment with fingering weight yarn on such tiny needles ever again. Well, never say never.

Just like I did with the pullover, I'm using SweetGeorgia Yarn Tough Love Sock on 3.5mm (US 4) needles. Although, this time around I feel like I'm knitting slightly faster due to the fact that I'm not knitting stockinette but airy lace instead. Even though I've only been working on this sporadically for the past 4 weeks, I feel like it's been slow moving. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that I want to wear this now! In reality I'm 2 repeats (that's 12 rows!) away from completing the lower body before being able to cast on for the sleeves - which I plan on making 3/4 length. With the shorter length and knitting in the round, the sleeves should be a real quick knit.

I've given myself 'til December 15th to finish this, I've been invited to Brett's work's Christmas staff dinner and would love to wear this with a certain dress. I just wish that I could work on this project at knit nights and while out and about, but to me this project is a very anti-social one. I've brought it to knit night twice and tried to work on it, but both times I've had to tink back and try to sort out my mistakes. It wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't take me about 45 minutes each time to find and fix the mistakes, bringing me back pretty close to where I had started knitting. I also can't work on this while the Munchkin is around cause again this pattern requires my full attention, which can't happen when a 2 year old toddler is trying to get your attention!

Since I can only knit on this at night, I'm really hoping that what I have left to knit up will go by quickly. Let's see, 2 sleeves, the yoke, button bands, and a collar in 4 weeks? Um, I better cross my fingers...and get back to knitting before the Munchkin wakes up!
