WIP: Peacock Pogona

WIP: Peacock Pogona

Ursa did it. Then Bonny did it. Michelle couldn't help it and started one 2 weeks ago. Then after molesting trying on Bonny's I just had to start it too. Even though I was determined to not start a new project until I finished one of the several WIPs that I have piled up on the corner of the desk, a week ago I gave in and cast on.

I had a few false starts with yarns from the stash. I really did try to "shop" in my stash, but alas, nothing worked. Nothing was to my liking and nothing suited this pattern. After a lot of hemming and hawing I ended up at Button & Needlework Boutique. Before I had a chance to really look around, I quickly walked away with 2 skeins of Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca DK. In my defense, I technically had only bought 1 skein because I had a $25 gift certificate for filling out one of those frequent buyer card things. So really, I wasn't being that bad for not using up stash yarn...right?

Anyways, this shawl is flying off the needles. I think I would have had it done a long time ago if it weren't for the fact that my hands are still a little sore and the time I have been spending on knitting has been going towards knitting purple baby hats. I'm about 3 inches away from the finishing line, but each row is getting longer and longer. I'm aiming at getting this done within the next week or two. I'm sure as the weather gets colder I'll be rushing to get this finished, just so that I can wrap this oh-so-soft and beyond lux shawl around my neck before stepping out into a crisp fall day!

  1. I am the same with my yarn stash. I try to use what I already have but sometimes it is so much easier just to buy something new. I always have a distinct image of what I want the finish product to look like and it never fits with what I already have on hand.

  2. I totally agree! Majority of the time when I'm buying yarn I already have a project in mind for it. So when a new pattern comes my way that I must absolutely knit NOW, usually there's nothing in the stash to use for it. Oh well, nothing wrong with having to buy more yarn!! ;)
