A yarn diet, that is.
I realized the other day that I don't knit nearly as fast as I can consume yarn. By no means do I think my stash is huge, it's somewhat decent (it could use more variety, but whatevs, I digress). The photo above only shows what I'm currently stashing in my bedroom closet (in an attempt to be organized and trying to get the house clutter-free). I still have an extra large Rubbermaid tote in one of the downstairs closets, an overflowing basket of WIPs (which I should really deal with), and a couple bags in my sewing closet. Yes, me thinks a yarn diet is in order.
So the goal: to not buy yarn for at least 2 months. And for a little added fun: to knit as many items as I can (in hopes of making a dent in said stash) in that time frame.
The exceptions:
- the special orders that I had made at The Beehive and from Sunshine Yarns
- if I run out of yarn on a project and need to buy more in order to finish
- if I need to supplement a gift certificate, but can't go over $20
Incidentally, going on a yarn ban just happens to be one of the goals that I had made for my 101 goals in 1001 days thing. So let the
work on finishing your wips! I have a tonne that I'm trying to get through before I start a new project.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your yarn diet! Good for you to be organized and clutter free! I'm trying. You inspire me! ;)
ReplyDeleteGoodluck! I really should do that with my stash but most of it is little balls of leftovers so I don't know what to do with them.

ReplyDeleteUgh, I should (and I highly emphasize the "should") work on my WIPs, but I just suffered from a bout of Starteritis! I think it's from the fact that it's spring...y'know, new season, new start. Yeah...that's it.

Thanks! I'm going to need all the luck I can get! So many temptations teasing me...
I wish I could say I'm super organized, without adding the fact that a lot of it is organized chaos... One day, one day it WILL be organized.
Kat:
Thanks! Do your left overs have the same color theme or fiber content? Maybe you can find a project that can involve all of them? Like an afghan or something?
