Peaceful Moments

Things have been a little busy 'round here. A lot of it has to do with the holidays and trying to get things done in between work and the little one's schedules. I've been working 3 mornings a week for the past few weeks and it's kinda killing me, to the point where my weekends are starting to meld together into one long day: wake up at 4am, work, come home, nurse the wee one, try to get errand or housework done, eat dinner, shower, put the Munchkin to bed, put myself to bed by 9pm, repeat from the start.

It doesn't sound that busy, but throw in Christmas preparations into the mix and there you have the catalyst to our day-to-day routine. I've been so exhausted and in a "go, go, go!" mode that I haven't been able to do any crafting all weekend. I'm still surprised that I even managed to make it to my knitting group on Friday and had actually stayed awake the entire time!

To top it all off, Brett left yesterday for Vancouver for 5 days. His company has been hired by VANOC to train all the volunteer drivers for the Olympics. It's so weird to know that all the Vancouver 2010 Olympics talk and activities that has been happening the past few years, and even more so recently now that the Olympics is only a few months away! So because of this, Brett has and will be going to Vancouver often...leaving me home alone with the Munchkin, who has even more teeth popping up which leaves him very cranky and irritable!

I'm just glad that I planned ahead of time and prepared a lot of healthy snacks and a huge pan of (my best ever made to date!) lasagna! Mmmm...full of yummy bison, spinach, mushrooms, and enough cheese to alarm Wisconsin. All of these preparations has really helped in allowing me to have 3 hours of sweet, uninterrupted knitting last night! Ahhh...it was pure bliss to be able to sit in silence with a cup of tea, a few cookies, my knitting, and not having a single worry about the next few days. Hell, I even started a new project and made some good progress on it (more to come on that one later).

So I'll forewarn y'all that I won't be blogging much until Brett gets back, and even then I'm not sure when I'll be able to sit down and type out a post as my in-laws will be arriving, gifts that still need to be wrapped, and Christmas baking to be done. For now, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the random, but rare moments of peaceful bliss where I am completely alone and can knit, sketch, and hopefully sew!

'Til next time, happy holiday crafting!

  2. Thanks Nat! :)
As you probably already know (and read off of the Bitchy Bee's Ravelry forum) that I can't make it on Friday. Boo erns for me! I hope you have fun though, and score big on the swap!
